A Place for You

The church is not a building – it’s the people. Our three societies are formed of people who have come from a variety of walks of life with a range of tastes and preferences and from a spread of locations as well as the immediate area – just like you. Could one of our fellowships be a place for you to belong for worship, witness and wholeness?

Worship – Giving together to God

We’d love to invite you to come to church with us, spend a few weeks with us and see if there’s a ‘fit’. You’ll be made to feel welcome and we trust you’ll find our services to be times of peace and nourishment for your soul. Sunday morning services follow a traditional pattern of hymns, prayers, a Bible reading and sermon. Occasionally the form is changed for child-friendly family services and we encourage children to be present for as much of every service as they can handle!

The sacrament of Holy Communion is offered as part of the service roughly once a month in each church and, following Methodist practice, we invite all people who confess ‘Jesus is Lord’ or who long to do so to the Lord’s Table.

Witness – Giving together to others

We recognise that your primary place of witness is your own home, workplace, street and surroundings. We pray that our time in God’s presence togetherĀ on Sundays will help to nourish us throughout the week. In addition, we engage in gentle outreach to others through regular church-led activities (such as the coffee morning held in Downpatrick each Thursday from 10.30am) and special events (such as offering water bottles and prayer to concert-goers, or the staging of the Titanic Story production in Newcastle). All in the name of Jesus.

Wholeness – Giving to one another

Bible Studies, prayer meetings and coffee mornings offer the opportunity to meet each other in less formal settings than Sunday worship; but we also enjoy being able to chat for a while after services, perhaps over a cup of coffee; and we offer genuine care and affection when we discover folks are in a difficult place. We pray for one another, for God’s healing and wholeness to be evident in our lives.

Please do come and see if Dundrum, Newcastle or Downpatrick Methodist Churches are a place for you.
