Remembering: The Future

Rev Dr Johnston McMaster will speak at a public meeting in Downpatrick Methodist Church on Remembrance Day. Former Director of the Education for Reconciliation programme of the Irish School of Ecumenics, he has been deeply involved in studying the contribution, positive and negative, of Christian churches to politics in Ireland past and present. In this decade of emotive centenaries he is working with the Ethical and Shared Remembering Project 1912-1922 in Northern Ireland, concerned with learning and sharing hard lessons from history. His theme will be ‘Challenging Times: A Journey through Faith’.

This is the fourth in the ‘Faith at Work’ series of events offered by Downpatrick Methodists to their community, in which an individual is invited to reflect on how their Christian faith has influenced their work. Johnston McMaster is a Methodist Minister, former Irish League footballer, and native of Portavogie, Co. Down.
